HISTORY
Released in Autumn/Winter 1996 as part of General Research’s early exploration of utilitarian reinterpretations, this coat exemplifies the label’s conceptual approach under Setsumasa Kobayashi. Known for reworking military and outdoor archetypes, the season presented functional garments with exaggerated detailing and modular elements, blurring the line between uniform and fashion. The duffle coat was reimagined with leather straps and industrial hardware, replacing traditional toggles with a sharper, more militant aesthetic.
