Introduced for Spring/Summer 2017 under creative director Demna Gvasalia, the Balenciaga Triple S quickly became a defining symbol of the “ugly sneaker” trend in luxury fashion. Named after its triple-stacked sole, the model pushed exaggerated proportions and heavy construction into the mainstream, influencing the decade’s footwear landscape.
